Products
The product is the base record of Miridia. Each thing that you buy, make, stock, or sell is a product. This includes raw materials, packaging, finished goods, and services.
A product does not hold a stock quantity. Miridia calculates the stock from the inventory movement ledger. Read Inventory.
Product types
The product type tells Miridia where the product can appear and how it behaves.
| Type | Use | Sellable | Purchasable | Stocked |
|---|---|---|---|---|
FinishedGood | A product that you sell to customers. It often has a bill of materials. | Yes | Sometimes | Yes |
RawMaterial | A material that you buy and use in production. You do not sell it. | No | Yes | Yes |
Component | A part that you use in a bill of materials. You can also sell it. | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Consumable | An item that production uses, for example labels or tape. | No | Yes | Optional |
Service | Work that has no physical stock, for example installation. | Yes | Sometimes | No |
A kit is not a product type. A kit is a type of bill of materials. A variant is also not a product type. A variant is a member of a product group.
Status
Each product has one of these statuses:
Active: the product is available.Inactive: the product is temporarily not available.Discontinued: you do not sell or buy the product again. Its history stays.
Three switches
Three flags control where a product appears:
isSellable: you can put the product on a sales order.isPurchasable: you can put the product on a purchase order.isTaxable: Miridia applies tax to the product.
A raw material is purchasable and not sellable. A service is sellable and has no stock.
Units of measure
Each quantity in Miridia has a declared unit. This applies to an order line, a stock count, and a recipe line. The available units are Each, Kilogram, Gram, Litre, Millilitre, Metre, Centimetre, SquareMetre, CubicMetre, Pair, Pack, Box, Roll, and Sheet.
Identifiers
Each product has a SKU and a title. You can also record these trade identifiers:
barcode: a generic barcode.upc: the Universal Product Code.ean: the European Article Number.mpn: the manufacturer part number.
Use tags and the free-form metadata dictionary for your own attributes. The metadata endpoint merges the keys that you send. A key with a null value is removed.
Product groups and variants
A product group collects products that are versions of one product. An example is one flavour in four pack sizes. The group has a parent product and members. Each member has option values, for example {"Pack Size": "4-pack"}.
A sales channel that supports variants receives the group as one product with variants. A channel that does not support variants receives each member as a separate product.
Suppliers of a product
A product can have more than one supplier. One supplier is the primary supplier. For each link you can record:
- the supplier part number
- the last quoted price and its currency
- the lead time in days
- the minimum order quantity
A new purchase order line takes its default price and expected date from the primary supplier. Read Suppliers and purchasing.
Price history
Miridia records each price as a new entry in the price history. It never changes an old entry. Thus you can find the price of a product on any date in the past.
Each entry has:
- a price type:
Selling,Purchase, orCost - a currency and an effective date
- tax data: the tax type, the tax rate, and a flag that tells if the price includes tax
- discount data
- a source:
Manual,SupplierUpdate,Import,Sync, orMigration - a price unit and a pack quantity
The pack quantity lets you record the price of a case. For example, record R240 for a case of 12. Miridia calculates the unit price as the total price divided by the pack quantity.
to set to that date and pageSize=1.The cost of a bill of materials uses the purchase price history. Read Bills of material.
